Cal’s Granger Out for Season With Injury
Freshman Michele Granger, a former softball star at Valencia High School, will not pitch again this season for California, the university’s sports information department announced Monday.
Granger has been suffering from inflammation of the tendon and tendon sheath in the first two fingers of her left (pitching) hand. Granger consulted with several doctors before making her decision.
She was 2-2 with an 0.56 earned-run average in 25 innings this season. She had allowed 11 hits and recorded 25 strikeouts.
Granger set a national record with 1,635 strikeouts at Valencia. She also had 26 no-hitters and nine perfect games at Valencia.
