Local : Oil Spill Puts Newport Blvd. on Skids

A 20-gallon barrel of salad oil fell off a truck in Newport Beach today, coating the southbound lanes of Newport Boulevard and causing a shutdown.
The spill occurred about 10 a.m. near Hospital Road. All southbound lanes were closed while Newport Beach firefighters cleaned up the oily mess. No one was injured, but the truck driver was cited by police for the spill.
