Three children were injured Sunday night in an accident on California 78, east of Escondido, and their father has been arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving and child endangerment, San Diego police said.

Lindsey C. Jackson, 34, was reportedly driving east in the wrong lane of traffic on the highway, about 3 miles east of Bandy Canyon Road, when he swerved and hit an embankment and his truck rolled over, a police spokesman said.

His three children--all under 14 years old--and a woman passenger were trapped in the truck until they were freed by rescuers, the spokesman said. Two of the children were taken by Life Flight helicopter to Children’s Hospital, and the third was taken to Palomar Hospital.

Police did not release the names of the children or the woman, who was not their mother. No information was available on their medical condition.

Lindsey, who was not seriously injured, was booked into County Jail on suspicion of felony drunken driving and felony child endangerment.
