Ex-School Official Sentenced for Theft

Share

A former Lynwood Unified School District official Monday was placed on three years’ probation and ordered to perform 400 hours of community service for using on-duty school employees to work on his private property.

Commodore F. Reid, 53, was also ordered by Superior Court Judge J. D. Smith to make restitution once it is determined how much money was lost. Deputy Dist. Atty. Herb Lapin said the amount is probably between $2,000 and $5,000.

Reid, who was director of maintenance, operations and transportation for the district, pleaded no contest March 7 to one count each of grand theft and receiving stolen property.

Lapin said Reid agreed to pay employees to do the work on his house and some rental property, then reimbursed them at district expense through such means as compensatory time off.

A restitution hearing is scheduled for April 24.
