In a week in which all three network news anchors were in Cuba for Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev’s visit, Peter Jennings’ “ABC World News Tonight” narrowly edged Dan Rather’s “CBS Evening News” and won the week’s ratings, A. C. Nielsen Co. figures showed Tuesday. Jennings’ broadcast averaged a 10.1 rating, while Rather’s got a 9.9. Tom Brokaw’s “NBC Nightly News,” usually in third place, was there again, averaging an 8.9 for the week ending last Friday. It was the second time in four weeks that Jennings’ newscast has topped the network news ratings.
