IN BRIEF : WBA Decision Goes to Musgrove
Larry Musgrove of Los Angeles won a majority decision over Tim Williams of San Diego in their 12-round WBA Americas middleweight title bout Wednesday night.
Musgrove, who weighed in at 160 pounds, dominated the early rounds of the fight but was slightly out-muscled by Williams, who weighed 157 3/4, in the later rounds. But Williams made his move too late. Musgrove won the first six rounds and one of the final rounds to hold on and claim the decision.
Judge Kenny Davis had the fight even at 114-114, Judge Lou Filippo scored it 116-113 and Judge Rudy Delgado had it 115-113.
Musgrove improved to 10-8-3, with three knockouts. Williams dropped to 15-9 with 12 KOs.
