The State : Driver Shot in S.F. Violence

Share

In an apparent gang shooting in San Francisco, a gold Mercedes was mistakenly riddled with bullets and the driver critically wounded, police said. Investigators believe the shooting near the city’s Western Addition is part of a feud between the Sunnydale Gang and the Hunters Point gang over an earlier shooting in which two people died and nine others were wounded. When he was shot, Chris Guillory, 19, who was hospitalized in critical condition, may have been mistaken for the owner of the Mercedes borrowed from a member of one of the gangs, police Inspector Rich Adkins said. There have been several recent cases of mistaken identity in which victims have been wounded and, in at least one incident, killed, police said. Detectives said the shootings are tied to drug dealing and use, and turf rivalry. Several gang members have been questioned, but there have been no arrests, police said.
