LOCAL : McMartin Jury Tours School
The jury in the McMartin Pre-School molestation trial today toured the now-closed Manhattan Beach nursery school where 11 children were allegedly sexually abused from 1978 to 1983.
Defense attorneys for two former McMartin teachers requested the tour to demonstrate their contention that the school is so small that the molestations could only have occurred had everyone working at the nursery been aware of them.
But only seven teachers were initially charged in the case. The charges against five were dismissed in 1986 for lack of evidence. Only Raymond Buckey, 30, and his mother, Peggy McMartin Buckey, 62, are on trial.
