A Cal State Northridge student was sentenced to 300 days in County Jail on Friday in the abduction of a woman she suspected of burglarizing her campus apartment.

Christi Daniels, 19, showed no emotion during her sentencing in San Fernando Superior Court.

Daniels and her boyfriend, Kenneth Ceasar, 23, had been charged with attempted murder and kidnaping in the Jan. 5 abduction of 18-year-old Czarian Ramsey of San Pedro. Those charges, however, were dropped when the two pleaded guilty to one count each of assault with a deadly weapon.

Sentenced Earlier

Ceasar was sentenced earlier this month to a year in County Jail. Daniels’ 18-year-old brother, Christopher, a juvenile at the time, was also arrested in the incident and faces kidnaping and attempted murder charges in Sylmar Juvenile Hall, Deputy Dist. Atty. Craig R. Richman said.

The incident began Jan. 2 when Daniels, a CSUN freshman, told campus police that $17,000 in clothing, jewelry and other items had been taken during a burglary of her apartment on Zelzah Avenue.

A woman fitting Ramsey’s description was said by a neighbor of Daniels’ to have left Daniels’ apartment with a pile of clothing the day of the burglary, authorities said. Campus police, however, said they told Daniels that they had insufficient evidence to arrest Ramsey.

Daniels went to Ramsey’s Sherman Oaks apartment Jan. 5 to discuss the burglary, authorities said. The two women had known each other for eight years, police said.

Eventually, Ramsey got into a car with Daniels and the two were later joined by Christopher Daniels and Ceasar, authorities said.

Ramsey was taken to a park-and-ride lot in Newhall, where Ceasar held a gun to her head while Daniels continued to question her about the burglary, authorities said.

Investigators said Ramsey told them that she believed that she was about to be shot when sheriff’s deputies, on routine patrol, pulled up. The suspects were arrested, and a .38-caliber semiautomatic pistol and a knife were recovered at the scene, authorities said.

Daniels told investigators that she was unaware that Ceasar was carrying a gun, according to court documents. Daniels said she did not intend to kill Ramsey, only to ask her about the burglary, authorities said.

Ramsey has denied involvement in the burglary at Daniels’ apartment, which is still under investigation, authorities said.
