San Pasqual 6, Rancho Buena Vista 0--Kevin Herde (5-2) went the distance and doubled in a run during San Pasqual’s three-run third. Mike Escarcega squeezed home the first run in the third for San Pasqual (14-5, 5-2), and Herde and Tony Medina hit back-to-back doubles, each driving in a run. Rancho Buena Vista is 10-9, 3-4.

Oceanside 6, El Camino 3--Kenya Hunt hit a two-run home run in the first for Oceanside (10-9, 2-5). Andrew Acevedo (4-3) earned the win. Scott Hertineck (0-3) took the loss for El Camino (4-15, 0-7).

San Marcos 14, Ramona 1--Brian Calloway was two for three with four RBIs, and Marc Keller was two for three with three RBIs for San Marcos (4-13, 3-4). Toby Lehman (3-3) was the winner. Ramona is 8-7, 3-4.

Palomar League

Mt. Carmel 5, San Dieguito 1--Marcus Lee hit two two-run homers--in the first and third--to lift No. 1 Mt. Carmel (17-2, 6-0).

Torrey Pines 6, Poway 5--John Lynch’s three-run homer in the seventh broke a 3-3 tie, and Torrey Pines (2-4) withstood a two-run rally by Poway (7-10, 1-5) in the bottom of the inning. Poway had the tying run at second before Lynch struck out John Uglow.

Orange Glen 9, Fallbrook 7--Matt Taylor singled home a run and then scored on a double by Shannon Vinje as visiting Orange Glen (10-8, 3-3) scored two runs in the top of the eighth. Dirk Fisher hit a two-run home run, and Keith Elston added a bases-empty homer in the fifth for Fallbrook (12-7, 2-4).

City Central League

St. Augustine 5, Christian 2--Brad Gennaro (4-4) took a no-hitter into the seventh, but Christian’s Shane Anderson hit a leadoff single up the middle. St. Augustine is 9-11, 4-5, and Christian is 6-10, 4-5.

Metro Conference

Southwest 7, Mar Vista 0--Victor Caracoza (4-2) threw a two-hit shutout, striking out 14 for Southwest (9-7, 3-4). Mar Vista is 7-10, 5-2.

Bonita Vista 4, Marian 1--John Solomon hit a two-run home run in the fourth, his third of the season, to give Bonita Vista the victory at home. Craig Catlin (4-3) struck out 11 for the victory.

Castle Park 8, Sweetwater 5--Benji Gil (6-0) went the distance for Castle Park (21-2-1, 7-0), and Jackie Sosa was two for four with two RBIs. Sweetwater is 9-9, 4-3.

Hilltop 7, Chula Vista 0--Jeff Luce and Jose Silva were all Hilltop (5-12, 2-5) needed. Luce hit a grand slam in Hilltop’s six-run third, and Silva threw a one-hitter. Chula Vista is 6-12, 4-3.

Softball

Castle Park 5, Sweetwater 0--Dawn Wood pitched her sixth consecutive shutout for Castle Park. Wood, a senior, now has 36 career shutouts, two short of the San Diego Section record, set by Cheryl Forehand of Santana from 1978-1981.
