Abandoned Exotic Fish Foul Michigan Waters

YPSILANTI, Mich. —
A fisherman was astonished when the fish he hooked in the Huron River turned out to be a piranha.
“I thought it was a bluegill,” George Kearney said Tuesday.
Dr. Ned Fogle, of the State Department of Natural Resources’ fisheries division, said dumping of tropical fish in Michigan waters is increasing as aquarium owners become bored with their exotic fish.
