Three television series produced at Orange County’s KOCE (Channel 50) have been nominated for Los Angeles-area Emmys.

Two of the series, “Focus on Watercolor” and “Orange County Centennial Snapshots,” are competing in the same category, special class program, along with four other nominees.

“Jim Cooper’s Orange County,” a weekly program until this year and now airing on a special basis, was nominated in the public affairs category.

“Focus on Watercolor,” hosted by Capistrano Beach artist Timothy J. Clark, appears on 51 PBS nations around the country. The 13-part series was produced by David P. Stone, who won a local Emmy last year for his series on Chinese brush painting. The executive producer was Leslie Purdy. It is distributed by Coastline College and completed its run on KOCE on April 21. Station officials said the series may be repeated.

The 26 “Orange County Centennial Snapshots,” which run from 90 seconds to 2 minutes, were produced by Paul Bockhorst with Sandee Harden, executive producer, and sponsored by The Times Orange County. They run several times a day on KOCE, as well as in area movie theaters.

“Jim Cooper’s Orange County” aired on Friday evenings and repeated on Saturday mornings for nearly 17 years. Beginning in September, the interview-and-discussion show began running on a special basis, usually on Friday nights at 9.30. The show, which has earned two Los Angeles-area Emmys in the past, is produced by Ed Miskevich. Jim Cooper is executive producer.

The winners will be announced May 20 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
