Girl at Play Runs Into Car’s Path, Is Killed
A 4 -year-old Pacoima girl died Sunday after she ran in front of a passing car while playing, police said.
The girl, whose name was withheld until relatives could be notified, died at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley in Sun Valley about an hour after the 2:15 p.m. accident on Remington Street near Remick Avenue in Pacoima, Los Angeles Police Officer Douglas Burns said.
Witnesses told police that the girl ran into the street from behind a parked car, Burns said. She was hit by an eastbound Chevrolet Caprice driven by Benjamin Diaz Montero, 34, of San Fernando, police said. Montero, who was uninjured, was not charged.
