A spring snowfall shocked Denver residents, a tornado tore across an empty carnival midway in Texas and rough seas drove a tugboat and barge aground off Galveston. Four inches of snow fell in Denver and up to seven inches in the foothills, the National Weather Service said. The snow did not stick to roads but temperatures remained near 40 on the state’s eastern plains. A tornado damaged a state park at Hitchcock, Tex., and drove a tugboat and barge aground on the Bolivar Peninsula on the north side of the bay. Hitchcock police said the tornado knocked down several tents along the midway where a carnival and rodeo were set up.
