Phil Collins, Prince and Talking Heads aren’t going on tour this spring, but their shoes are--with transportation from Brinks and $1 million in insurance coverage from Lloyd’s of London. More than 50 pairs of Reebok high tops, hand-painted by those stars and other pop figures including Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell and Kenny Loggins, will make the rounds of eight U.S. Hard Rock Cafes, with some sneakers auctioned at each stop to raise funds for the T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research. The “tour” kicks off Wednesday at Los Angeles’ Hard Rock with an event hosted by Richard Marx. The shoes will be on view there through Sunday before stepping out to San Diego, San Francisco, New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, Chicago and New York, ending with 10 special pairs on the block at Sotheby’s “Rock and Roll Memorabilia Auction” on June 24.
