A 36-year-old Westminster man is being held in County Jail on $25,000 bail after being charged with raping an 83-year-old woman at a convalescent home.
Lui Lautoa was arrested Sunday afternoon and booked on suspicion of rape with a foreign object, rape, sexual battery and oral copulation after he allegedly assaulted a patient at the Tustin Manor Nursing Home early Sunday morning, Lt. Frank Semelsberger said.
Semelsberger said Lautoa worked as a part-time aide at the nursing home and was assigned to the night shift at the time of the attack.
The victim, whose name was not released by authorities, had been at the nursing home off and on for several years, Semelsberger said.
“He basically forced himself upon her” and allegedly assaulted her with an object similar in size to a pencil, Semelsberger said. The victim was not physically injured, he said.
