Quarter Horses Open Los Alamitos Meeting

Quarter horse racing will return to Los Alamitos Race Course tonight at 7:30 for a split 78-night meeting--May 5 through July 22 and Aug. 15 through Sept. 9.

Major races will be the $400,000 Golden State Derby June 16, the $500,000 Kindergarten Futurity July 15 and the $300,000 Denim and Diamonds Futurity Sept. 2. There will be nightly 870-yard races matching quarter horses against thoroughbreds.

Racing is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday--10 races Tuesday through Thursday and 11 Friday and Saturday.
