Panel Kills Trash Fee in Proposed Budget
The Los Angeles City Council’s Finance and Revenue Committee approved a $3.2-billion city budget plan after eliminating Mayor Tom Bradley’s proposal for a trash-collection fee that would have cost about $43-a-year per household.
The committee’s version of the spending program could be used to help finance the first year of a proposed recycling program by cutting $23 million of spending proposed by Bradley, including some salary increases.
The budget now faces a vote by the full City Council.
