Wayne Levi added a 67 to his opening 62 and retained the lead Friday as darkness again halted play in the storm-disrupted Byron Nelson golf tournament at Dallas.

This time, nine players were still on the wind-ravaged TPC at Las Colinas course when the second round was suspended. They are scheduled to resume play at daylight today.

None of the nine appeared to have a chance of overtaking Levi, who who hasn’t made a bogey in the tournament and finished 36 holes at 11-under-par 129.

A severe overnight thunderstorm, with winds in excess of 100 m.p.h., dumped 2 1/2 inches of rain on the course Thursday night.

The hurricane-force winds ripped down concession and hospitality tents, knocked down a radio tower, scattered debris and flooded portions of the course.

The delay necessary to return the course to a playable condition Friday morning backed up starting times and made it impossible for the round to be completed.

Canadian Dan Halldorson shot another 65 that lifted him into a share of second place at 130 with Chris Perry, who also had two 65s.

Defending champion Juli Inkster and Betsy King shot three-under-par 69s to share the lead after the lightning-shortened first round of the LPGA Crestar tournament at Chesapeake, Va.

Their lead was a precarious one, however, as Caroline Gowan, with just one top-10 finish in her five-year LPGA career, was five under par through 13 holes when officials called play for the day.

Lou Graham, Miller Barber, Don Massengale and Larry Mowry shot 66s to share second place.
