IN BRIEF : Tyson to Fight Williams July 21
Mike Tyson’s next title defense will be against Carl (The Truth) Williams on July 21.
Tyson, the undisputed heavyweight champion, and Williams will fight at the Convention Center in Atlantic City, N.J., according to a published report in today’s editions of the New York Times. Donald Trump secured the live-site rights to the match and brought it to New Jersey.
Don King, the bout’s promoter, had been trying to cut a deal for a two-fight package, the second a match with Jose Ribalta, the newspaper said. But that agreement could not be worked out with Stephen Hyde, chief executive officer of the Trump properties in Atlantic City.
Tyson’s last fight was against Britain’s Frank Bruno on Feb. 25, and in it the champion scored a fifth-round knockout.
