Following is the third and concluding Clipboard installment of summer programs for children in Orange County. This list----like the first and second ones, which appeared Thursday and Friday----is a selection of programs available, not a complete list. It is ment to give parents an idea of the breadth of activities available during summer vacation. DANA POINT YOUTH AND GROUP FACILITY 34451 Ensenada Place, Dana Point (714) 661-7122 Let’s Go Fishing Students attend a short seminar demonstrating the proper use of rods and reels, tying of hooks and sinkers, baiting hooks, and general boat safety. Includes boat trip when fishing techniques will be taught. All equipment and boat trip included. Bring a sack lunch. Meet at sport fishing dock, bring $3 for hooks, etc. Fee: $15 children, $20 adults (license required if older than 16) Ages: 7-adult When: Saturdays, June 17, July 15 and Aug. 19, 11 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Tide Pools Walks Head naturalist for Orange County’s Department of Education gives an introduction to tide pool creatures, exploring the tide pools and reviewing the animals. May join one or all sessions. Be sure to wear old shoes. Meet behind Building B. Large groups please contact park office at (714) 661-7122. Fee: $3 Ages: All When: Saturdays, June 3, 1:30-3:30 p.m.; June 24, 8:30-10:30 a.m. and July 8, 9-11 a.m. Bird Walks Learn about Orange County birds during a stroll about the harbor. May join one or all sessions; bird populations vary with migration, so there’s always something new to see. Bring cameras plus binoculars, if you have them. Wear comfortable shoes. Meet behind Building B. Fee: $3 Ages: All When: Saturdays, June 10 and Aug. 26, 8:30 a.m. Prevent Drowning Workshop A workshop designed for families to recognize and prevent dangerous situations in and around the water. Self-rescue and basic rescue techniques will also be covered. Children are encouraged to participate. Pre-register. Fee: $3 Ages: All When: Saturday, July 8, 10-11:30 a.m. Tai Chi Chuan--Beginners to Advanced The classic Chinese method of calisthenics for health and self-defense is graceful in movement, slow in tempo, relaxed and aware in continuous postures. Regular practice harmonizes breath, physical movement, mental focus, and greatly reduces stress. Advanced studies include Push Hands, Swords Form, Tai-Chi Ruler, Taoist Yoga and meditation. Includes round trip transportation from Dana Point Youth and Group Facility to Newport Beach, round trip ship transportation on the new luxury catamaran “Catalina Flyer,” and sightseeing tours. Euclid St., La Habra (213) 905-9793 Kid’s Clinic Exhibit This exhibit is designed to ally fears, misconceptions and anxieties of a youngster’s initial visit to the doctor or hospital. The gallery will be designed as a clinic, with waiting room and with areas on surgery, dentistry, X-ray and pharmacy. Kids follow a typical medical routine from admittance to final release.
