Patrick Swayze plays the title role in Paramount’s “Ghost,” to film locally and in NYC in July for director Jerry Zucker. Writer Bruce Joel Rubin’s fantasy-comedy casts Swayze as a bank exec whose accidental death was the work of a supposed friend now eyeing his job and gal. But the late exec hopes to foil those plans through a charlatan medium. Producers Lisa Weinstein and Steve Jaffe are negotiating with Whoopi Goldberg for the latter role. . . . John Lone goes “Stalking Tigers” in Hong Kong with his “Last Emperor” wife Vivian Wu and Brit actress Sammi Davis later this month. The Elliott Lewitt production is the saga of Chinese refugees who become power brokers in the current gold rush climate of the Far East. Acclaimed Japanese film maker Mitsuo Yanagimachi (“Himatsuri”) directs and co-wrote the script with Richard Maxwell for producers Lewitt and Don Guest. . . .

Roger Corman, who last directed in 1971, casts Bridgit Fonda as Mary Shelley in his “Frankenstein Unbound,” filming next month in Italy. The new twist is that Jeremy Irons, a 21st-Century scientist, goes back in time to discover her Dr. Frankenstein was real . Raul Julia is the mad scientist. . . .

Liv Ullmann’s French island vacation with her teen-age daughter produces tension and humor in “Mindwalk.” A.J. Cohen produces and Bernt Capra directs next September. . . . C. Thomas Howell is out to avenge the 10-year-old murder of his parents in 21st Century Film Co.’s “Kid.” Mark Robinson directs the Leslie Boehm screenplay in August for producer Natan Sahavi. . . . Gary Busey joins Charlie Sheen as a sadistic sergeant in charge of a stockade of prisoners in “Cadence.” Martin Sheen directs on Vancouver locations for producer Richard Davis in July. . . .

In SC Entertainment’s “Still Life”--filming next month in Toronto--Jason Gedrick plays a serial killer who turns his victims into art pieces. Jessica Steen gets romantically hung up and possibly worse in the script by Michael Taav, Dean Parisot and Graham Campbell. Campbell also directs for producer Nick Stiliadis. . . .
