LOCAL : Tyson Won’t Face Battery Charges
The city attorney’s office decided today not to file misdemeanor battery charges against heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, accused of slapping a Hollywood parking lot attendant three times in the stomach.
Assistant City Atty. Timothy A. Hogan said that after meeting separately Friday with Tyson and the alleged victim, Michael Devine, he concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute the case.
“I don’t think the evidence shows he (Tyson) was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt,” Hogan said. “There’s a possibility the battery took place, but I feel we can’t prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.”
