For the first time, a work by modern-dance matriarch Martha Graham will enter the repertory of a ballet company when American Ballet Theatre acquires “Diversion of Angels” next season. Set to music by Norman Dello Joio, the plotless, lyrical 1948 work came to American Ballet Theatre through Graham’s growing association with artistic director Mikhail Baryshnikov. On June 1, Ballet Theatre and the Graham Dance Company will give a special joint performance at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.
