Shots fired from a passing car killed one man and wounded two of his gang companions in Compton on Thursday night in the latest of a spate of shootings in the Los Angeles area, authorities said Friday.

Police were seeking three gang members in the shooting death of Michael Cammon, 19, a reputed Crips gang member who was gunned down on North Rose Avenue about 10:20 p.m. Thursday, Compton Police Sgt. John Garrett said.

Garrett said officers followed a trail of blood to a house at 600 N. Rose Ave., where they found two wounded teen-age boys, ages 14 and 16.

The boys, gang members whose names were withheld because of their age, were hospitalized in serious condition at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, Garrett said. All three were hit by bullets from an assault rifle fired from a dark-colored Lincoln Continental carrying three people, he said.
