Teen-Ager Drowns Off Newport Beach

A Santa Ana teen-ager drowned Saturday after he was caught in a current off Newport Beach, police reported.
Officers identified the victim as Ruben R. Jimenez, 19.
Apparently, Newport Beach police said, Jimenez and a friend were swimming in the ocean near 10th Street and Ocean Front when they were caught in the strong current. Two other teen-agers tried to save the two, but Jimenez disappeared into the water before they could get to him.
