“Jerome Robbins’ Broadway” was named outstanding musical of the 1988-89 theater season by the Drama Desk, an association of New York City critics, editors and reporters. The Drama Desk also honored Wendy Wasserstein’s “Heidi Chronicles” as best new play and “Our Town” as best revival. Bill Irwin’s “Largely New York” was honored as a “unique theatrical experience.” The award for best actor in a musical went to Jason Alexander in “Jerome Robbins’ Broadway.” Toni DiBuono of “Forbidden Broadway” was chosen as best actress in a musical.
