Quarterback Phil Simms missed the opening day of mini-camp for the New York Giants. His attorney said the veteran plans to stay out unless the team renegotiates his contract.
Simms, the most valuable player in the Giants’ Super Bowl victory over Denver in January, 1987, is in the final year of a five-year contract that reportedly will pay him about $800,000 this season.
