ENTERTAINMENT : TV’s Maggi McNellis Dies at 71

Maggi Newhouse, who was host of radio and television talk shows under the name of Maggi McNellis, has died of heart failure at her home in Manhattan at age 71, it was learned today.

Newhouse, who died Wednesday, was born in Chicago and began her career as a supper club singer. She moved to radio in 1943 as host of “The Maggi McNellis Show” and “Maggi’s Private Wire.” She also participated in “Leave It to the Girls,” a radio show that offered women advice on romance and marriage. She later became host of a television version of the show, and of television’s “Maggi McNellis Show” and “Maggi’s Magazine.”
