Denmark’s Bjarne Riis won the ninth stage of the Tour of Italy cycling championship, and Portugal’s Acacio Da Silva earned the pink jersey of the overall leader.
Riis finished the 139 miles from L’Aquila to Gubbio, Italy, just ahead of runner-up Dimitri Konychev of the Soviet Union and Enrico Galleschi of Italy, who was third.
