Sting (in Rio de Janeiro) and Diana Ross (in London) top a roster of pop and jazz stars scheduled to perform for environmental awareness in “Our Common Future,” a five-hour satellite global telecast coming up Saturday. Locally, KABC-TV Channel 7 will broadcast three hours of the event beginning at noon, then will show all five hours beginning at 11:30 p.m. Cable’s Arts & Entertainment Network also will carry all five hours, beginning at 5 p.m. PDT. The lineup also features music by Elton John, R.E.M., Midnight Oil, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, along with celebrity hosts such as “Live Aid” creator Bob Geldoff, Sigourney Weaver and Richard Gere, and taped messages from world leaders including President Bush.
