Woman, 26, Found Slain in New Home
A 26-year-old woman was strangled by an intruder on her first night in a new Torrance townhouse that she bought with money from an inheritance, authorities said Thursday.
Police said they have no suspects in the death of Tracy J. Morrigan, whose body was discovered Wednesday morning by her mother inside her unit at the Chatelaine townhouse complex on Maple Avenue.
Police said that Morrigan, an avid golfer, was scheduled to take a lesson Wednesday at a Los Angeles golf course. But when her mother arrived that morning to wait for workmen to turn on utilities, she found her daughter’s body on the floor of an upstairs bedroom.
Morrigan had recently inherited what was described by police as a “large sum” of money from a relative, who was not identified, and she used the money to purchase the townhouse in the gated complex, where units sell for more than $315,000, authorities said.
Police said Morrigan was single and had previously lived with her parents in Rancho Palos Verdes.
