The State : $25,000 Paid Salcido Tipster

Share

The informant whose tip led to the capture of mass murder suspect Ramon Salcido in his native Mexico has received a $25,000 reward, Sonoma County officials said. The Sheriff’s Department would not identify the recipient, but news reports previously said that Salcido’s sister and brother-in-law tipped Sonoma County detectives that they had seen him in his home town of Los Mochis, Mexico, days after the April 14 rampage that left seven people dead. Last week, however, Salcido’s sister denied that she or her family tipped authorities, and she said she was not entitled to any reward. Salcido is charged with seven counts of murder in connection with the killings of two of his three daughters, his wife, his mother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and a co-worker. Another $15,000 in reward money will be paid if there is a conviction in the case.
