Great Baseball, Angels

Share

Are the California Angels for real? Well, it is really too early to tell, but with nearly one-third of the season over, the Halos are off to their best start ever and in a battle royal with heavily favored Oakland for the American League West lead.

After the Angels closed out the 1988 season by losing their last 12 games, and then lost their first game this year, fans might not have expected too many wins, especially with a pitching staff touted as one of the weakest in the league. But then the Angels started winning, and fans are being treated to great baseball as they follow each game to see if the pitching staff can keep its earned run average the lowest in the league. And if Devon White will hit another home run and steal another base. And whether the inspirational and amazing Jim Abbott will win again.

It is still too early to tell how long it will last and how far the Angels can go. But win or lose, Orange County is being treated to an exciting baseball season.
