Eighth-Inning Uprising Lifts Cubs to 8-1 Win
Pat Cheek doubled with the bases loaded and Greg Cantor added a two-run home run to key a seven-run eighth inning in the California Cubs’ 8-1 victory over the Woodland Hills Astros in a semipro W. A. Goodman’s League game Saturday at Pierce College.
Winning pitcher Al Leiser did not allow a run in two innings of relief. Cub starter Jon Secrist gave up two hits, including a solo home run to Kevin Ogle in the fifth, in five innings.
Anthony Espitia and Steve Savage also doubled for the Cubs (2-0).
