Moving West
The article “East Meets East” (Metro, May 27) points out that many Asians are leaving or bypassing Monterey Park for communities like Hacienda Heights, Walnut and Diamond Bar in the eastern San Gabriel Valley.
I’d like to add that many successful younger Asians, notably the Chinese and Japanese, have left Monterey Park and moved westward, to Beverly Hills, Bel-Air and Brentwood. Their desire to assimilate and become positive contributors to the American Dream demonstrates once again that America’s multiethnic society is the world’s most unique and vibrant, second to none!
