Two coming exhibitions of works by Vincent Van Gogh, marking the centenary of the artist’s death next year, will be insured for what is thought to be a record amount: $2.73 billion. Several hundred Van Gogh canvases and drawings, borrowed from museums and collectors around the world, are involved. The works will be displayed in 1990 in Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum and the Kroeller-Mueller Museum in east Netherlands as part of several months of events honoring the Dutch painter.
