The Animal Rights Issue and Its Role in Society

Share

Lonn Johnston’s tribute to a taxidermist (People, May 29) reveals shocking insensitivity to the slaughter of wild life. I am not mollified by the fact that “actually, (taxidermist Bob) Snow has little to do with killing.” Why glorify this gruesome display in the first place?

Bob Snow’s profession profits from a belief that animals are our possessions and can be arbitrarily selected to adorn our homes. This selfishness has led to countless extinctions. Man does not have this right, and it insults me to learn that I too could have a “mounted” giraffe for $12,500. Come on, Times, is this responsible reporting?
