The San Diego Nomads set a Western Soccer League record by winning their seventh consecutive game in a 2-1 victory over the California Kickers.

Robert Paterson, a graduate of Mira Mesa High, scored both goals for the Nomads in the second half. It was the second consecutive game in which Coach Derek Armstrong switched Paterson from midfield to a forward position after halftime and received a two-goal dividend.

Thien Nguyen assisted on one of Paterson’s goals and has now contributed an assist in six consecutive games, another league record.

Steve Boardman got the other assist.
