Charges Against Actor Reduced

Felony drunk-driving charges against actor David Keith, who played Oliver North in the recent television miniseries “Guts and Glory,” were reduced to a misdemeanor count, officials said Tuesday.
Keith was arrested for investigation of felony drunk driving after his speeding car hit another car in West Hollywood about midnight on May 20. The actor’s blood-alcohol level was found to be more than .18%, almost double the state’s minimum for prosecution of drunk driving.
But the charges against the 35-year-old actor were reduced to a misdemeanor of driving under the influence because the other driver allegedly made an illegal U-turn and there were no serious injuries, said Elden Fox, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office.
Keith, driving a 1988 Ford Mustang, collided with a 1988 BMW.
