Santa Clarita Council Votes Itself a 5% Raise
The Santa Clarita City Council has given itself a 5% pay raise, lifting the monthly salary of council members from $600 to $630.
The council, without comment, gave final approval to an ordinance enacting the pay hike Tuesday night. The five-member council meets at least twice a month, often for four or five hours. The council also holds at least one informal study session each month. The state government code allows municipalities to raise council salaries 5% a year.
