Miniature of Arts Park L.A. on Display at Warner Center
The public can now view architectural models of Arts Park L.A., the arts center that a private group called the Cultural Foundation is hoping to build in Sepulveda Basin.
The models--on display through July 31 at ARTSPACE Gallery in Warner Center--portray a $50- million complex set amid 60 acres of rolling hills and a man-made lake.
Arts Park’s flagship would be its theater, left, designed by Morphosis of
Santa Monica. This avant-garde building would house 1,800- and 500-seat theaters and be largely submerged, blossoming above ground in elevated walkways and artistic structures.
At right is the proposed amphitheater, designed by Hodgetts-Fung of Los Angeles, with its volcano-shaped, concentric circles.
Other designs include a museum, a media film center, children’s workshops and an Arts Park Center with expansive exhibit spaces.
Arts Park is planned for land controlled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the city of Los Angeles, so all designs will have to be approved by government authorities.
ARTSPACE, 21800 Oxnard St., Suite 110, is open noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
