Cable TV Renewal Proposed in P.V.E

The Palos Verdes Estates City Council this week introduced an ordinance that will, if adopted, renew for 10 years the Times Mirror Cable Television franchise.

Under the terms of the new agreement, which has been negotiated for a year, Times Mirror Cable will provide access for 1,800 more homes within a year after the contract is granted.

If the ordinance is adopted as expected after a public hearing on June 27, it will become effective July 27, and Times Mirror will have 30 days to supply its cabling maps to the city for final approval of the contract.

Under a 13-year-old franchise with the cable company, 60% of the city, or about 3,200 homes, has cable access. The new agreement will provide access to the remaining homes.
