Chargers Sign One Rookie, Release Another

The Chargers signed Greg Lewis, a rookie free agent wide receiver, and released rookie free agent linebacker Mike Matthews on Friday.
Lewis is a 5-foot-9, 157-pounder who was a member of Texas A&M;’s 1987 All-American sprint relay team. He didn’t play football his senior year and saw limited playing time on special teams and at receiver as a junior.
Matthews attended Oregon State.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL
U.S. International University has named Jack Murray an assistant basketball coach. He was a part-time assistant a year ago.
Murray will replace Steve Kinder, who left USIU two weeks ago for the head coaching position at Oceanside High School.
