$96 Ticket That Police Gave to Young Bicyclist

Share

I, too, received a citation recently in Santa Ana for stopping (full stop) slightly over the white line at a stop sign near my home. The fine was $75. In March, 1986, our 27-year-old son was killed by a speeding tractor-trailer. The present fine for speeding while operating a truck trailer, three or more axles, is $100 for the first conviction!

Is this equitable?

Is this justice?

Senate Bill 463, introduced by Sen. John Seymour, recently passed the Senate and is now in the Assembly. This bill would increase the fine for operating a bus, motor truck or truck tractor drawing any other vehicle, in violation of specified speed-limit provisions, from $100 to $200 for first conviction. I urge public support.
