Downing Named Angel of the Week
Brian Downing, who batted .320 (eight for 25) during the past week and became the Angels’ all-time hit leader with a single against Texas Rangers starter Nolan Ryan Wednesday night, is The Times’ Orange County Edition Angel of the Week.
The hit was Downing’s 1,409th as an Angel, moving him past Jim Fregosi.
The Times will donate $200 in Downing’s name to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Orange County.
