DIVINE AUCTION
Hundreds of items belonging to Divine, the portly, round-faced transvestite actor, were sold at auction Wednesday in New York, bringing in more than $11,000. The items auctioned at Christie’s East ranged from Divine’s false eyelashes and blond wig to mini-dresses and stuffed animals. The actor, whose real name was Harris Glenn Milstead, died last year in Los Angeles at age 42 after a critically acclaimed performance as a suburban matron in the film “Hairspray.” Divine’s mother, Frances Milstead of Margate, Fla., said, “This is the end of it all and I am very glad. It was satisfying to see people still interested in Glenn’s things.” Asked where the money would go, she said “It will all go to the IRS.”
