Norman Horowitz, president and chief executive of MGM/UA Telecommunications in Beverly Hills, has resigned, effective at the end of this month, the entertainment company announced Wednesday.

Horowitz, who joined MGM/UA in 1986, has been responsible for the overall supervision of the company’s worldwide home video, pay-cable television, syndication and pay-per-view operations, as well as production for first-run syndication and home video.

Horowitz said the decision was motivated by the pending completion of the acquisition of MGM/UA by Qintex, the Australian entertainment giant.
