Teacher Pleads No Contest in Abuse

A Los Angeles elementary school teacher accused of sexually abusing five of his male students pleaded no contest Wednesday to one felony count of child molestation.

After entering his plea in Municipal Court, Allen Gross, 43, of Pomona, turned in his teaching credential as part of a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael Fishman said it is “very doubtful” that Gross ever again will teach in public schools.

Fishman said Gross will be sentenced July 19 to three years’ probation and ordered to undergo psychiatric counseling. Three misdemeanor child molestation charges and one felony lewd conduct charge will be dismissed at the sentencing hearing.
