Yorba Linda : Work Begins at Nixon Site

Share

Work began this week on the restoration of the 1912 farmhouse in Yorba Linda that is the birthplace of former President Richard M. Nixon.

The house will be part of the Richard M. Nixon Presidential Library and Birthplace, which is scheduled to open next summer. Restoration of the house, built by Nixon’s father, will take several months and cost about $400,000 raised through private donations.

This week construction crews placed the two-story house on jacks so that a new foundation can be poured. Restoration experts will return the house to its original condition, and the Nixon family will donate some furniture.

Richard Nixon was born in the house in 1913 and lived there until he was 9. The family then moved to Whittier in Los Angeles County.
